Cupping Therapy looks immensely painful, but trust us, it is harmless. Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines and even cellulite. The suction and negative pressure provided by the cup can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow and sedate the nervous system. Being an ancient form of alternative medicine, Cupping has been around for a very long time and we are glad this technique is being used around the world as it is extremely beneficial for anyone interested.

Cupping in action

Cupping can be done with cups made out of glass, silicone, plastic, and other materials. We personally use plastic and glass in our studio.

The three common types of Cupping are: Wet, dry, and fire. We solely stick to dry cupping. We apply oils to the skin for lubrication to prevent any cutting and to help hold the cups into place more efficiently.

After placing a cup on the skin, place the vacuum into the hole, and suck the skin up into the cup. For a new-comer we keep the cups on for 15-20 minutes. An experienced client, we leave the cups on for roughly 30-45 minutes. Once the skin is released, oil is reapplied along with a short massage to settle the skin. Once a month or 6-8 weeks is our recommended wait time in between sessions.

When it comes to bruising, how easy or hard you bruise depends on your body type and your water intake. Cupping can be intimidating for most, but with us we will make the entire process as calming as possible.
